Summary: Today we learned how to identify homophones, words with the same pronunciation but different spelling and meaning. We also did a comprehension check for poetry concepts, to help determine which areas need more focus. Last, we learned about the different types of rhyme:
Perfect Rhyme - The final stressed syllables of the words sound exactly the same.
Slant Rhyme - The vowel sounds are similar, but the consonants may differ, or vice versa.
Eye Rhyme- Words look like they should rhyme based on spelling, but do not rhyme when spoken.
Internal Rhyme - Rhyming words appear within a single line of poetry.
End Rhyme - Rhyming words occur at the end of lines.

HOMEWORK: What is the gist of each paragraph. Read and highlight any phrases or sentences related to the main idea, then use that information to help write a short gist for the paragraph.
